It's the first Thursday of the month so it's time for the Divine Divas Inspiration Challenge! Our inspiration pic today is from Art.com.
For my very literal interpretation, I started with some speckled ivory c/s and masked off the squares in a checkerboard pattern. On the corner squares, I sponged on tea dye Distress Ink. On the remaining squares, I used antique linen Distress Ink. I stamped over the squares with one side of the paper cube (Stampendous) with the same inks.
The leafy branch (PTI) was inked with Really Rust and stamped across the left corner. I added some detail on the stems with a brown maker. The scroll (FP) was stamped down the right side with the rust ink.
I stitched around the edge and also around all the squares using rust colored thread. The sentiment (SG) was stamped in two of the squares.
The trees (LYTB) in the center square, were inked w/ sienna and chocolate inks. I used a tree leaf image (Stampendous) and inked it w/ the Kpad to get the varied fall leaf color. After cutting with a Spellbinder square nestie, using my Out of the Box Nestie Technique, I left the die on top and sponged in the ground. The rust layer was cut with a larger square. The dark brown layer is part of a paint chip. Finished card measures 5.25 square.
Thanks so much for looking!
